Mariam Khalik Hamid was a 4 year old girl living in Khor al Laban, a small village not far from Kassala. This little girl was suffering from cleft lip palate, a genetic malformation of the palate that causes problems in breathing, eating and speech itself. Friends of Sudan decide to support this project with a donation to the A.V.I.A.S. association which took care of the little girl, who has undergone several surgeries in Italy, at the San Camillo Forlanini Hospital and now she can finally smile!
